Our aim is to resolve symptoms quickly as well as treating the underlying cause. We are open, honest and skilled in the treatment of your condition – this has led to a reputation we are proud of.

Meet Our Team

Christian Coombs - High-Performance Physiotherapist & Lecturer



Christian is a highly experienced High-Performance Physiotherapist with an extensive background in sports rehabilitation, biomechanics, and athletic performance. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Physiotherapy from Curtin University, an MSc in Strength & Conditioning from St. Mary’s University, London, and a BSc in Chartered Physiotherapy from Cardiff Medical School. Additionally, he earned a BSc (Hons) in Exercise Physiology from Glamorgan University.

Currently, Christian is a lecturer at the Technological University of the Shannon, where he teaches on the BSc in Athletic Therapy & Rehabilitation program. He is also a member of the Sport Ireland High-Performance Panel for Physiotherapy, working with elite athletes at the highest level.

He has held key leadership roles in elite sports, including:

  • Head of Medical, Offaly GAA (2023–2024)
  • High-Performance Physiotherapist – Sport Ireland (Irish Track Athletes)
  • Head Physiotherapist, Westmeath Gaelic Football Team (2011–2015)
  • Medical Coordinator, Offaly Gaelic Football Team (2018)
  • Sports Physiotherapy & Performance Testing for International Olympic Athletes & Professional Rugby Players

With a wealth of experience in sports performance, injury rehabilitation, and high-performance environments, Christian is dedicated to optimising athlete health, recovery, and peak performance.

David Harrington



David is an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach and a Certified Athletic & Rehabilitation Therapist with over nine years of experience. He has a profound passion for sports and has worked across various athletic environments, including rugby, hurling, Gaelic football, and currently with the SSE Airtricity League team Athlone Town FC. Notably, David provides care for Offaly inter-county players across all age grades in both senior football and hurling, providing specialized training and rehabilitation programs.

In the clinical setting, David has extensive experience, particularly in addressing neck and back pain, dry needling/acupuncture, and chronic conditions. He is dedicated to working with individuals of all ages and abilities, ensuring a safe and effective return to pain-free function and mobility.

Megan Burns


Megan graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) with a BSc in Chartered Physiotherapy and has since been involved in postgraduate research at UCD, focusing on developing apps for athlete management.

Alongside her physiotherapy career, Megan is an elite athlete, representing Ireland’s Sevens Rugby Team on the World Series circuit. Her experience competing at the highest level has deepened her understanding of elite sports performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

Megan has a special interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation (post-op shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle), return to performance in sport, biomechanics, spinal pain, tendinopathy, and sports rehabilitation. She has built extensive clinical experience working with both amateur and elite athletes.

Tiernan Collins


Tiernan is a Certified Athletic Therapist and NSCA Strength Conditioning Coach with experience working with high-performing clubs and athletes across multiple sports.

His career began in the U.S., where he was part of a championship-winning Division 1 soccer team as an Assistant Athletic Therapist. Following this success, he returned to Ireland, taking on roles with Athlone Town AFC and the Galway FA, further expanding his expertise in elite-level soccer.

Tiernan then transitioned into the GAA, working with Offaly U20 Footballers, Galway U20 Footballers, and Corofin GAA (Galway)—the latter achieving championship success during his tenure.

Most recently, Tiernan joined Connacht Rugby, where he works with the Provincial Talent Squads, supporting the next generation of rugby talent.

Holding a BSc (Hons) in Athletic Therapy and Rehabilitation, Tiernan is also a dedicated health and fitness enthusiast. He enjoys working one-on-one with individuals—whether elite athletes striving for peak performance or beginners aiming to complete their first 5K run.

Shane Carrington - Psychologist



Shane is a dedicated Sport and Exercise Psychologist in training, holding an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology with Distinction from Staffordshire University. Currently, Shane supports the Offaly GAA squads in a Sport and Exercise Psychology role, where he focuses on optimizing performance in competitive environments. He has also previously supported the Athlone ladies soccer team delivering an intervention to help performance under pressure.  

Shane's academic background is complemented by experience in lecturing in sport and exercise psychology, as well as the psychology of sports injuries and rehabilitation module. This has equipped him with a strong foundation in understanding the psychological demands athletes face, both during peak performance and recovery. 
    
Shane has a keen interest in helping athletes perform under pressure, using evidence-based mental strategies to build confidence, focus, and resilience. He is passionate about integrating psychological tools into the physical rehabilitation process to help athletes return stronger, both physically and mentally.

Ellen McDermott - Performance Nutritionist



Ellen McDermott is not only an internationally competitive cyclist and national champion but also a dedicated performance nutritionist who understands first-hand the powerful link between fueling, recovery, and performance. With a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance Nutrition and a Master’s degree in progress, Ellen blends scientific expertise with elite sporting experience to help athletes and active individuals unlock their full potential.

Her philosophy is clear: nutrition isn’t just reactive—it’s protective. Whether it’s returning from injury, managing heavy training loads, optimizing body composition, or staying resilient against setbacks, Ellen designs strategies that go beyond the plate to support sustainable performance.

She has worked with a diverse spectrum of clients, from recreational athletes rebuilding confidence after surgery to high-performance competitors chasing podium finishes. By combining the latest evidence-based research with practical, personalized solutions, Ellen empowers athletes to train harder, recover faster, and perform stronger.
